Hybrids are the best of both worlds as the positives of an indica and all the energetic goodness of a sativa come crashing together to form a Hybrid. Hybrids have become a mainstay on the commercial cannabis scene, becoming one of the three major categories that include indica, sativa, and yes, hybrids.
Hybrids are often the results of years or even decades of cross-breeding plants into hybrid strains. It can be as simple as merging old plants with newer breeds or attempting to cross breed plants based on effects and healing properties.
The advantages of a hybrid plant is the fact it can boast properties from both indica and sativa dominant strains. Indica strains are oftentimes associated with a heavy high that can leave the user couch-locked. Sativa strains are most energetic and up-lifting. When a grower can take the properties of both, combine them and get the most out of the new version it’s a win-win for both the consumer and grower.
Oftentimes boasting much longer names than its more pure counterparts, hybrids can have combo names like Blueberry Space Cake/Soja Haze. The names can be fun and inventive, but the original genetics always matter as most hybrids will lean more toward an indica or sativa strain.
Hybrids are a combination of genetics in the plant with the hopes of morphing into a plant that can cross a number of planes when it comes to healing, treatment, and overall well being. Plants are often dominant in either indica or sativa.
